Chrysler launches interactive product-focused video series



Chrysler Group LLC is launching a new video series called “Behind the Wheel” to highlight some of its key products.

The first live broadcast will started yesterday with Chrysler Assistant Chief Engineer of Driveline Rich Silbert talking about the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which is scheduled to arrive in showrooms in the third quarter.

Each episode, according to Chrysler spokeswoman Catherine Gasior, will focus on different parts of various vehicles. The first series is on the Jeep Cherokee with the first episode focusing on the driveline and class-leading 4x4 capabilities.

Depending on the model, the vehicle offers best-in-class V6 towing capability of 4,500 pounds, three 4x4 systems for best-in-class capability in all weather conditions and fuel economy up to 31 miles per gallon, according to Chrysler.

The Cherokee -- starting at about $23,000 -- will be available in four different models, ranging from the luxury Limited edition to the Trailhawk, which is designed for off-roading enthusiasts.

The Cherokee’s two engine options include a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 271 horsepower, 239 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers best-in-class V-6 towing of 4,500 pounds and the fuel-efficient s 16-valve, 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 I-4 engine, which comes standard in the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee.

During the broadcast of the new show on the Chrysler Communications Livestream channel, viewers can comment about the episode and submit questions using #ChryslerLive via Twitter.

“Behind the Wheel” will be an ongoing series featuring special guests, including engineers, designers and other team members behind the launch of various Chrysler vehicles.

Silbert said there is no set schedule for future episodes, but the Auburn Hills-based automaker wants to air a new episode every three to four weeks.
