The Huffines Essay Contest

Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Lewisville hosted a 500 word essay contest entitle, “If I owned a business I would…”  The essays written came in from students at the J.L. Huffines Sr. Middle School.  Principal Tim Baxter, Counselor Mattie Mackey, and the leadership team at the school graded the essays.
The essays were graded on several criteria including creativity, marketing, and community and environmental information.  Twenty essays were chosen by the leadership team and then narrowed down to ten finalists.

The top ten finalists were: Ben Olinger, Brody Beavers, Brandon Funk, Krista Anderson, Sherilyn Woodard, Shilpa Regi, Caylee Bradley, Austin Trueba, and Saleema Bah.  The essays were placed in the bed of a RAM truck and the winner chosen by Santa Claus (John Freneress).  The big winner was Caylee Bradley.
The ten students were chauffeured in a limo to the dealership, sponsored by Premier Transportation Co. of Dallas.  The grand prize was a 51-inch TV sponsored by Huffines and gift cards were given to the other nine students, sponsored by Clay Condrey of Texas Farm Bureau.

The Huffines Band Drumline performed at the dealership during the event and the Huffines Parts department handed out Ram hats and backpacks to the students.

A special thanks to Amy Kopp, Kristen Corscadden, Ray Burgess, Kylee Kennedy, and Lewis Osuna for your assistance.
